MK Gallery x Resolve Collective Shutter Project
I was selected as one of 7 artists by MK Gallery and the Resolve Collective to design and paint a shutter for one of the market stalls at MK (Milton Keynes) Market. We were each given a different vendor to design shutters for, mine was the fruit and veg stall, The Online Greengrocer. I worked with the vendor on the design before implementing it in a very short timescale! They wanted their existing logo incorporated as part of the design, and I included some bright colours in the hope that it would entice people to come closer!
We battled through wind and rain, short timescales and evenings and 2 day times to get the project finished! Corrugated shutters meant the project took a lot longer than I had planned but it was a great experience and I learnt a lot from this surface.
Favourite comment from a passer by 'Are you not afraid someone is going to lick it?'.
The project was funded by MK Development Project to bring more and different people into the market.
A massive thanks goes to Roisin Callaghan and Sahar Ibrahim who helped with painting and organising the project, volunteers, etc!!
